For all of you who don't know by now, I was diagnosed with Grade 3 Breast Cancer back in November 2008. Since then I have had my Tumour and Lymph Nodes removed and I am currently undergoing the FEC Combination of Chemotherapy, 6 sessions of treatment with 3 weeks off in between each session, I'll then have a month off to "Recover" before starting 4 -6 weeks of Radiation Therapy. When the Race for Life is on, I should be half way through my Radiation Treatment, if I'm not fit enough to run/walk the 5K, I have a great Mum and my 3 Best friends who have agreed to push me around the course fund raising for themselves as well. I never thought I would get Cancer, you never think its going to be you. I'm sure we all know someone who had been affected by this terrible illness, I have several friends who are either undergoing treatment as we speak or bear the scars of past treatments. http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/katebarnett3

Pink Wishes Member Lisa Connell from Rent A Date For Charity
Rent A Date For Charity & Brainstrust – Together we will make things happen! It was announced this week that Rent A Date For Charity, founded by Pink Wishes Member Lisa Connell, is now working in collaboration with proactive brain tumour charity, Brainstrust – the Meg Jones Brain Cancer Charity. In 2006, at the age of 27, Lisa Connell was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. Since then she has found that there is little known about the research, treatments and information available surrounding the illness and its cause. Therefore, from Lisa’s own battle with the illness, she has made it her personal mission to raise £1 million for charity via the business she has created, www.rentadateforcharity.com Through Lisa’s own personal experience and search for information she discovered Brainstrust and met with Meg Jones and her parents who founded this hard working charity. Lisa will also bi in the Sunday Mirror on 14/06/09 so don't forget your copy!
Member Ann Tofari, posted a wish on the website to take her auntie June (who is unwell) back to Bournemouth to see the sea. Pink Wishes sent out a request, and were contacted by The Royal Bath Hotel Bournemouth who offered June & Ann a two nigh stay. We were also contacted by one of our Business Members Live Luggage who sent June a beautiful beige leather overnight bag.
Below is Ann' blog
We arrived back from The Royal Bath (Bournemouth) at lunchtime today after having a fantastic time (thank you, thank you, thank you). Sadly, we didn't get to meet Dominic, but we met Charlotte who was lovely. The hotel staff were wonderful. We left a thank you card with Charlotte for Dominic and asked him to thank everybody at the hotel on our behalf. The room was perfect, June loved the sea view. In fact, she loved to just lie on her bed with the curtains open looking out at the sea. The gardens were beautiful, June loved to look at them from the balcony too. June insisted on getting a cab into the town centre yesterday (Sunday), but we didn't stay too long, it was nice to have a look around though. The food at the hotel was superb. Because of her illness, June has lost an awful amount of weight (nearly 3 stone in a short amount of time, I think I told you on the phone that she is now on steroids and anti-sickness tablets), June called me this afternoon to tell me that she has put on 1/2 stone!!!! I think it's safe to say that June ate well at the hotel. I cannot thank you all at Pink Wishes (and The Royal Bath and Live Luggage) enough for making June's wish come true. You are all such special people.
Lots of love and hugs,
June sadly passed away in August, our
thoughts are with her family at this very sad time.
